New Caring Soul volunteerCaring Soul took some of its new volunteers to Joy Garden in Semenyih to perform some voluntary and charity works on May 12, 2012. Here you can see one of the new volunteers giving a free hair cut to a resident of the home while a few others started their maiden voluntary work by cooking for the others. One of them baked some cakes at her own home and brought them along to be distributed to about 25 old folks staying in the home. The new volunteers also spent time chit chatting with some of the folks, brightening up their day. View More |
Chicken Rice and Hair CutThe regular free hair cuts offered by volunteers of Caring Soul is getting to become quite a routine. To add spice to this event, Caring Soul volunteers on February 26, 2012 decided to throw in free chicken rice for the old folks in The House of Joy in Semenyih. And it's not chicken rice bought from any stall. Instead, the volunteers did the cooking at the home's kitchen, taking the opportunity to interact with the residents there who were ever willing to lend a helping hand. So, while some volunteers were busy giving away free haircuts, those who didn't have the experience, headed straight to the kitchen and started cooking. And it's not only chicken rice, it comes with cabbages and freshly blended chilies to go with it. Two volunteers also bake some cookies as dessert. All of them had plenty of fun on that fateful afternoon. View More |
Colouring the lives of old folks with red angpowsFor many years, Caring Soul have been visiting the old folks home at the House of Joy in Semenyih during the Chinese New Year period to specifically distribute ang pows to the residents there. Although Caring Soul volunteers visited the home on many occasions throughout the year, it's never like colouring the lives of the old folks with some red ang pow packets during the festive season. During the visit in February 2012 , it brought forth the season's warmth and care to them. The residents were especially cheerful during this period and talking to them made them feel they were always remembered by many people who care. View More |
Cooking For The OrphansA meaningful way to engage with the children, caring soul volunteers picked a day to prepare a modest meal of chicken rice for the orphans of Agathians Shelter in Petaling Jaya. Four caring soul volunteers spent half a day at the centre preparing cup cakes, chicken rice, chilli, agar agar and japanese pancakes which were devoured by the children. The volunteers also served the children the meal and spent time talking to them. View More |
Caring For The Old FolksWhat does it takes to be caring ? It calls for love and compassion as seen from the action of this Caring Soul volunteer who went the extra mile to cut the toe nails of an elder folk during one of their charity visits in Semenyih in December 2010. While two other Caring Soul volunteers were giving free hair cuts to the old folks at this home, this volunteer kept herself occupied by offering her assistance to cut the toe nails of an old lady. This is the type of quality of volunteers that Caring Soul is looking for. The old folks had a wonderful time chatting away with the volunteers of Caring Soul while the hair cutting was in process. Donating goodies to an orphanageCaring is about giving with compassion and love. It is with this in mind that CaringSoul volunteers take time off to go shopping every month to select goodies for selected charitable homes. While the most basic food items constitute the main bulk, some goodies are selected from time to time to bring up some cheers and smiling faces. The thought that goes with the selection during the shopping trip is what counts most for it is during this time that CaringSoul volunteers start to think of the needy. In this instance, you can see the cheerful faces of some orphans as they cart away the goodies from the car to their home. They look forward to this consistent monthly visit by CaringSoul.
